Why is Pixar’s Soul so good?!

Technology didn’t just allow us to watch random cat videos on YouTube or use Pokerstars Bonus Code when we visit an online casino. It also allowed people who make animations to bring their creations to a completely new level of greatness. Every single movie produced by Pixar studios is a masterpiece, 100% of the time. Surprisingly their movies are not categorized as animation movies exclusively, but as a mix of action, adventure, and funny films. I think the reason why Pixar is so successful is that they tap into children’s elemental emotions (anger, sadness, fear, and joy). Soul is no different. Let’s explore some of the reasons why this movie is amazing.

The interesting story

Soul follows Joe Gardner, a middle school band teacher with a passion for jazz who dreams of hitting the big stage. While on his way to a potentially career-altering gig, he falls into a manhole and wakes up in the Great Before—a place where souls develop personalities and quirks before they take their first breath.

Joe teams up with 22, a soul who doesn’t necessarily want to take her turn on Earth, to help him get back home.

A nice depiction of New York

The backstory of Pixar’s Soul is rooted in one of the greatest cities in the world: New York City. One of the most interesting parts of Soul is that it was written by Pete Docter, who grew up in Minnesota. His childhood was rich and fulfilling, but it lacked one major component that many people would consider crucial to a childhood: diversity. As he grew older, Docter moved to New York City and realized how much he had missed out on as a child. The city served as an inspiration for Soul’s concept, which explores how different backgrounds shape us as people—and how we come together over our shared experiences, even if those experiences are different than what we are used to.

Joe and 22’s friendship

Honestly, the most important part of the movie was the connection between Joe and 22.

Joe and 22 are from opposite ends of the universe, but that doesn’t stop them from developing a great friendship… even when their personalities couldn’t be more different. Their friendship is based on mutual respect. Joe admires 22’s intelligence and sees her potential, while 22 admires Joe’s passion for music and his determination. This mutual respect allows them to learn from each other and grow together.

You will experience all of the emotions

This movie will make you laugh, cry, and laugh some more—all at the same time! It takes you on an emotional roller coaster of emotions and has some very complex themes about life and death that really make you think about your own life (and what comes next).

It’s also just fun! It’s got great characters, and great music, and it feels like it was made with love from beginning to end.
